Dragons Rugby Stars Get Their Dose Of Coffee Blue

Coffee Blue had the pleasure of welcoming Dragons Rugby stars for two sessions of coffee tasting and barista training.

There was even a friendly competition to see who could make a latte – of suitable quality – the quickest.

Read on to see who was crowned the winner…

The two sessions saw Jonah Holmes, Lewis Jones, Huw Taylor, Will Talbot-Davies, Leon Brown, Jared Rosser, Max Williams and Will Reed all make the trip to Coffee Blue HQ.

Our team taught them the ins and outs of different coffee types, coffee farming, dialling in quality espresso and texturing the perfect milk for all popular barista drinks.

It turns out rugby players really love their coffee.

Espresso shots before training sessions and matches are a regular thing in the Dragons camp, providing a natural energy boost to improve performance.

Studies also suggest coffee can even help burn fat and improve muscle recovery, making for an ideal pre-workout drink for intense, physical sports like rugby.

Several of the lads already have their own home espresso setups, using Youtube tutorials and practice at the Centre Of Sporting Excellence to refine their barista skills – and it certainly showed!

The Coffee Blue team were very impressed by the quality on show. And by the end of the session, everyone was making high-quality barista drinks that would belong on any Coffee Blue van.

And The Winner Was…

And the winner was… drumroll, please… Jared Rosser!

Jared managed to whip up a latte in just one minute and 14 seconds, even adding a little heart as a flourish.

Congrats on a stellar performance, Jared. You, along with the rest of the boys, will make fine baristas in your post-rugby life.

NOTE: Leon managed to have another go after the competition wrapped up and clocked in at a whopping one minute and six seconds.

Looks like a rematch might be needed…
